The Ethiopic Library got its start in the summer of 1995 and was in active development through 1999. LibEth is wrapper around the an ANSI C (1990) library but also extends it to handle Ethiopic encodings, calender, numeral system, and character properties. The library is no longer actively maintained but additions for new encoding systems new encoding systems are still added to LibEth each year. The Convert::Ethiopic package is Perl language interface to LibEth. [g2] is a C language command line front end to LibEth that comes with the LibEth package.
